By Wyoming Department of Corrections
Published: 01/24/2012

Cheyenne – WY Brand Industries Marketing and Sales Manager Christine Lansford has been selected by her peers as the 2012 Marketing and Sales Person of the Year for the National Correctional Industries Association (NCIA).

The NCIA award recognizes an individual in the marketing and sales area of correctional industries who inspires trust and knows how to build relationships with customers, support, and manufacturing personnel.

According to the NCIA, those who are selected for this honor, among other things,
  • Display a “can do” attitude when it comes to solutions and sustaining the business under the most confining selling environment;
  • Have a constant display of powerful and positive excitement presenting the correctional industries message and product line to the customer base;
  • Have a dedication to being an expert in their area of correctional industry business;
  • And be considered by their customers to be a resource that can be relied upon to meet their needs.

“This prestigious award reflects your commitment to excellence in your profession, as well as in our field of correctional industries,” NCIA Executive Director Gina Honeycutt said. “We salute your dedication and the achievements that earned you this award and wish you continued success in your future endeavors.”

Lansford joined the Wyoming Department of Corrections in 2010, previously having worked in Arizona’s correctional industries program. Since coming to Wyoming Lansford has increased WY Brand’s customer base substantially and developed a new customer satisfaction system to manage orders and delivery. In addition, she has streamlined and increased production levels across all five facilities.

Correctional industries are the work programs in correctional facilities that provide real world work experience to inmates, teaching them transferable job skills and work ethic to help them prepare for post-release reentry and employment.

WY Brand Industries is a division of the Wyoming Department of Corrections (WDOC). Each of the five WDOC facilities has WY Brand programs that create a variety of products and utilize a range of job skills from sewing to aquaculture management.

Inmates gain work experience and training as they produce high quality, competitively priced products, which translates into benefits for taxpayers, customers, and the inmates who work and learn in CI.

The National Correctional Association is an international nonprofit professional association whose members represent all 50 state correctional industry agencies, Federal Prison Industries, foreign correctional industry agencies, numerous county jail industry programs and private sector companies that work in partnership with correctional industries, both as suppliers/vendors and as partners in apprenticeship and work programs.
