Juveniles escape from academy |

Two juveniles assigned to the State Treatment and Rehabilitation Academy near Custer, S.C. assaulted a staff member before running away from the facility early Wednesday, according to the state Department of Corrections. One of the youths is from the Sisseton area. They were in the intake and holding center at STAR when they assaulted a staff member at approximately midnight. The youths then escaped through a window and climbed over a security fence. STAR staff and local law enforcement are searching for the youths. The staff member was taken to Custer Community Hospital and treated and released. Descriptions: One of the youths is an 18-year old Native American male from the Sisseton area. He is 5-feet-10-inches tall, weighs approximately 150 pounds and has black hair and brown eyes. He has a tattoo on his left hand of three dots and the number 74. The other youth is a 16-year old Native American male from the Lake Andes area. He is 5-feet-6-inches tall and weighs approximately 165 pounds. He has black hair and brown eyes and a tattoo of a pitchfork on his left hand. |
