The driver and four state prisoners were injured Thursday when a van hit three vehicles and crashed into a southeast Oklahoma City business. An Avalon Correctional Services van driven by Donahue Bowens, 44, hit a vehicle parked in front of Crossland's A&A Rent-All & Sales Co., 716 SE 29, police Sgt. Tony Foreman said. A portion of the parked vehicle was in the street when the accident occurred about 7:30 a.m., he said. The right front tire of the van blew out, and the A-frame was broken before it spun out of control, he said. The van struck two other parked vehicles before it crashed into the building. Bowens was treated at a city hospital and released. The injured prisoners were Willie Frazier, 33; Derrick Johnson, 41; Jobe Fields III, 30; and Carlos Tecumseh, 38. They were taken to a city hospital for treatment. The van was delivering the prisoners to a work release program, Foreman said. No one was available Thursday at Avalon to release the prisoners' conditions. |
