| Corrections officer charged with having sex with inmate |

A former S.C. Corrections Department officer was arrested Friday and charged with having sex with an inmate at a maximum security prison while she was an employee, authorities said. Yashica Wilson, 31, of Lake City, is charged with sexual misconduct with an inmate. The felony charge carries a maximum sentence of 10 years in prison. Wilson had sex with the Lee Correctional Institute inmate between September 2001 and April 2003, the State Law Enforcement Division said. The inmate, 27-year-old Alfonso Staton, began serving a life sentence in May 1996 for a murder conviction in Marlboro County, according to the Corrections Department Web site. |
