Florida has received more than a half-million dollars from the federal government to figure out how well some prison programs are working.

The U.S. Department of Justice awarded a $598,982 grant to the Florida Department of Corrections and Florida State University to do a three-year study of three inmate programs.

The researchers also will be examining recidivism among released inmates and will be doing a cost-benefit analysis on each program.
