| Angola officer arrested in sex with girl |

A recently hired Louisiana State Penitentiary officer at Angola faces termination after his weekend arrest last weekend on a charge of carnal knowledge of a juvenile. West Feliciana Parish sheriff's deputies arrested 24-year-old John Wayne Perez of Amite last Sunday after a 13-year-old girl told her mother Perez had sex with her. Lieutenant Ontario McKneely says the alleged incident occurred in an area where Perez and the girl had been horseback riding. Perez is a friend of the girl's family. Warden Burl Cain says Perez was hired about three months ago and is a probational employee without civil service protection. He was assigned to guard inmates working in the prison farm's fields. Cain says Perez's employment likely will be ended. |
