| SC woman accused of trying smuggle ammo, drugs into prison |

RIDGEVILLE -- A South Carolina woman arrested Wednesday was trying to deliver drugs, phones, cigarettes, tools and ammunition to an inmate who had tried before to escape from the state's maximum-security prison in Ridgeville, authorities said. It was the second time this week that a woman has been charged with attempting to deliver contraband to Lieber Correctional Institution, S.C. Department of Corrections spokesman Clark Newsom said. He said the two smuggling attempts are not related, but are the types of events often associated with maximum-security prisons nationwide. Read More. |
