| Clare County Jail rents space to State of Michigan to house inmates |

We currently have 185 inmates lodged in the Clare County Jail, which consists of 95 locals, one Department of Corrections, nine federal, and 80 renters. We are now renting space to the State of Michigan to house level 1 inmates that have less than a two-year sentence. These are people who are classified to go out on work crews, be on trustee status, and have no major medical issues. I want to thank my jail lieutenant, Tim Theisen and all of the correction officers at the sheriff department for working hard to make this happen. Of course with anything new there are bumps in the road, but we are working them out as we go along.
