| State corrections updating its emergency notification system |

VT -- The state Department of Corrections is installing a new notification system that officials say is more advanced than the system that presently notifies communities about emergencies at nearby prisons and work camps. Corrections officials say the state has purchased a Twenty First Century Communications Alert system which is able to send time-sensitive messages over landlines, cellular and VoIP phones, BlackBerrys, person digital assistants, pagers and devices for the hearing impaired.
