| Jury acquits gang leader of intimidating witness, finds him guilty of harassment |

NJ -- A jury in Hackensack on Thursday acquitted a Latin Kings boss of intimidating a witness in open court but found him guilty of threatening an assistant prosecutor. The panel of eight women and four men also cleared Juan Rosario, 52, of four counts of making terroristic threats, convicting him instead of three counts of the much lesser charge of harassment. Rosario had vowed in open court to put a bomb in Assistant Prosecutor Catherine Fantuzzi’s car and threatened to kill a former gang member and his family a few seconds after he testified against him in a Hackensack courtroom in 2008. After two days of deliberations, however, the jurors seemed to agree with defense attorney Donald Liberman’s argument that most of the alleged threats were nothing more than “a temper tantrum” and a “desire to annoy.” Rosario showed little emotion and said “thank you” when the forewoman finished reading the verdict.
