Escaped inmate captured in La Grange |

LA GRANGE, KY (WAVE) – An inmate who escaped from a La Grange hospital armed with a corrections officer's gun has been captured. According to Kentucky State Police in Campbellsburg, Christopher Claxton was captured by La Grange Police on Button Lane in La Grange around 8 a.m. Thursday. He was taken to the Oldham County Jail. Trooper Brad Arterburn said an Oldham County officer on another run spotted a pickup truck that appeared to have been broken into. According to authorities, that officer found Claxton in a nearby wooded area wrapped in a blanket he had stolen from the truck. Claxton escaped from Baptist Hospital Northeast just before 10 p.m. Wednesday wearing only boxer shorts and socks. The correction's officer Claxton overpowered was not injured. Kentucky State Police, Oldham County Police, La Grange Police and officers from the Kentucky Department of Corrections swarmed the area overnight and into Thursday morning using K9s and helicopters to search for Claxton.
