Former Larimer County probation supervisor to be honored |

Les Rudner, a retired probation supervisor with the Eighth Judicial District, is this year's winner of the Judge Conrad L. Ball award. The annual honor recognizes the contributions of an individual or team to the quality of justice in Larimer County. Rudner worked in the probation department for 21 years. He still is involved in social work and criminal justice as a teacher at CSU and by serving on the board of a local nonprofit that works to prevent juvenile delinquency. Rudner established volunteer and internship programs within the probation department that are still in use, said Joe Ferrando, director of Larimer County Community Corrections. Those programs have introduced hundreds of people to careers in criminal justice, he said. An award given to the outstanding probation officer of the year is named in his honor. "He's really touched a lot of folks," Ferrando said Rudner was known for his willingness to work collaboratively with other agencies, Ferrando said. "He's very respected by judges, district attorneys, public defenders and community corrections," he said. "He was just the go-to person for years."
