(Concord, NH) The New Hampshire Department of Corrections announces that New Hampshire Correctional Industries, GraniteCor-NH, will be an exhibitor at the 2012 Made in New Hampshire Try It and Buy It Expo. Now in its seventeenth year, this event highlights the state’s diversity with over one thousand products, ranging from the latest in high technology to fine craftsmanship. This is the seventh year NHCI has participated. GraniteCOR staff will be available during the weekend to answer questions about inmate-made products and to discuss job skills programs offered to offenders. Many opportunities exist for inmates to learn marketable trades such as information technology, printing, furniture construction and upholstery, woodworking, agriculture, and sign making. A few small items will be available for sale. “This is an opportunity to educate and inform the public about Correctional Industries, particularly for those who cannot come inside the prison to see the shops for themselves,” Corrections Commissioner William L. Wrenn said. Approximately 400 inmates participate in GraniteCOR programs each year. It will be held at the Radisson Hotel/Center of New Hampshire Expo Center from Friday April 13, 2012-Sunday April 15, 2012. |
