Escape attempt foiled at Michigan prison |

Local, state and federal officials apparently foiled a dramatic escape attempt from a Michigan prison. Corrections officers say members of the Aryan Nation, a white supremacist group, planned to break into the correctional facility in Carson City using a hijacked laundry truck. They would then leave with a few of the prisoners. Officers say they also planned to kill African-American inmates and prison staff in the process. Michigan State Police and the FBI joined the investigation and were able to stop the attempt before it started on August 9. The plans put one parolee back in jail. Several inmates ended up in higher security prisons. The FBI says one employee has apparently resigned over the incident. |
