Norfolk County, MA – He was a father, husband and member of the Norfolk County Sheriff's office for more than a decade. Forty-two-year-old Ryan Tvelia is dead. He was killed in an accident Tuesday morning while riding his department motorcycle just north of the intersection of Route 1 and Interstate 95. "Our hearts truly go out to his family. His wife Diana. His three children. And we want to show as much support to them as we can," Norfolk County Sheriff Michael Bellotti. According to authorities, Tvelia's motorcycle hit the back of this Rav-4, throwing the deputy sheriff and correction officer from his bike. He was then struck by another car, a Mustang. All of the vehicles were heading north on 95 in Sharon, Mass. shortly before 8 a.m. The Norfolk County Sheriff says Tvelia was driving from his home to take part in a funeral detail for the mother of another member of the sheriff's office when the accident occurred. He lived in Plainville, and he is survived by his wife and three children, ages 15, 18 and 19. "He was somebody who served with great distinction. He came in as a correction officer,"Bellotti said. "He was also a tradesman for the sheriff's office and House of Correction in Dedham. And beyond that he was a deputy sheriff with all the cities and towns within Norfolk County." Read More. |
