DOC employee faces attempted murder charges after standoff |

Oregon -- A state Department of Corrections employee was arrested early Sunday after shooting at police during a standoff at his home that lasted more than three hours. Michael Wilson Yann, 39, of Turner was taken to Marion County jail, where he’s being held without bail, according to a Marion County Sheriff’s Office press release. He faces two counts of aggravated attempted murder, two counts of attempted murder and one count of disorderly conduct. Yann is scheduled to appear in court this afternoon. About 9 p.m. Saturday, a passerby reported to Turner police than an intoxicated man was staggering in Delaney Road SE near Seventh Street. Officers met the man, later identified as Yann, in front of his house in the 7400 block of Seventh Street. They were speaking with Yann and his wife, when he allegedly ran inside the house and came out with a handgun. He shot several rounds at the officers then several more through a window from inside the home, according to the sheriff’s office. Read More. |
