MIDDLESEX COUNTY, NJ — Freeholder H. James Polos, chairman of the Public Safety and Health Committee, who oversees the Department of Corrections and Youth Services, said on Wednesday that the recent allegations against the two corrections officers are very serious. Two county corrections officers were indicted by a grand jury on charges of falsifying departmental records stemming from the suicide of an inmate at the Middlesex County Adult Corrections Center last year. Prosecutor Bruce J. Kaplan said Gregory Fahy, 26, of the Port Reading section of Woodbridge and Gustavo Sanchez, 43, of East Brunswick were charged in New Brunswick on Tuesday with two counts each of third-degree tampering with public records or information and one count of official misconduct, a second-degree offense. “The Department of Corrections and Youth Services properly investigated the situation to make their determination and ultimately resulted in the charges against the officers,” Polos said. “The alleged actions of the two officers are an isolated incident that in no way represents the hard work and dedication of the many officers who oversee the good and welfare of the inmates at our adult and youth facilities each day.” Read More. |
