Relocating prisoners may place burden on families |

BOISE, Idaho -(KBOI) When the Idaho Department of Corrections begin sending inmates to out-of-state prisons, it may place a burden on the family and friends who regularly schedule visits. Amanda Howell knows all too well about prison visits far away from home. Every week she drives seven hours from Nampa to Orofino to visit her husband Rudy Howell who is serving a five-year prison term for a parole violation. "If they take them away, who's going to see him? Who's going to support him? My husbands daughters can't go. His mom can't go. He would be alone," Howell said. Idaho Department of Corrections director, Brent Rinke said his administration is planning to send inmates out of state to ease the crowded prisons in Idaho, especially after the latest increase in the prison population.
