Thumbs up to Lali Moheno for her efforts this week to pay tribute to eight outstanding Latinas, all of them with careers in law enforcement. The Latinas in Business & Professions Association is holding its business and achievement lunch from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Thursday at the Visalia Marriott in time to celebrate Cinco de Mayo. As is becoming the norm with Moheno's luncheons, the event is going to be standing room only. The women honored in this group serve in a variety of capacities in law enforcement, and many of them have careers that have spanned two decades. That means that they were finding success in careers that are not only dangerous but also during a time when the barriers to success were often placed in front of them because of their gender or ethnic makeup. That also means that the women who followed behind them may have found the road a bit smoother. To all of them, we owe a debt of thanks for the work they do and for choosing a life of service from which we all reap daily rewards. There probably is no stronger advocate for these women than Moheno, and kudos to her and the businesses that show their support in recognizing these very deserving women. Here's a look at the honorees: Read More. |
