Correctional Professionals' Week celebrated May 7-11

Cheyenne – Wyoming Correctional Professionals' Week will be celebrated and recognized through proclamation during the week of May 7 through 11.

The week will also consist of activities to recognize employees for the dedication and hard work. The activities will take place throughout the Wyoming Department of Corrections, including the correctional facilities and probation and parole offices.

On Wednesday, May 9, 15 exemplary employees from throughout the department will be recognized in Cheyenne at an awards ceremony and luncheon.

The Department of Corrections runs five prisons and 25 probation and parole offices that cover each of the 23 counties. The administrative offices are in Cheyenne.

The staff, who work in the state's prisons and probation and parole offices
  • Provide for the safety of Wyoming’s communities and citizens;
  • Give offenders opportunities to become law-abiding citizens using research based approaches through education, counseling and other resources;
  • Develop partnerships with victims, community members, public and private agencies;
  • And recognize that human relationships which are principled, ethical and reasonable are the cornerstone of the Wyoming Department of Corrections' commitment to its mission.

Governor Matt Mead will sign a proclamation to designate May 7-11, 2012, as Wyoming Correctional Professionals' Week during the exemplary employee luncheon on May 9.
