Each year, the first full week of May is set aside to recognize Correctional Employees in the State of Wisconsin and across the nation. Correctional employees demonstrate a selfless commitment to ensuring public safety by the diligent supervision of sentenced offenders and adjudicated juveniles, both in institutions and in the community. The quality of life in Wisconsin is enhanced by the commitment of correctional employees to restoring a portion of this state’s citizenry to a more positive position in society by providing sentenced offenders fair and impartial custody, treatment, nutrition, education, and health care. This week provides a time to commemorate and raise public awareness about the important work Department of Corrections (DOC) employees do each and every day, throughout the year. Even in times of change, the one constant throughout the years has been the people who work for the Department. The dedication, creativity, professionalism and team focus of our people make the Wisconsin DOC one of the best such agencies in the nation. Our workforce is talented, skilled, and committed to making an already solid organization even stronger. Together, we have implemented new efficiencies, new initiatives, and new strategies that have turned WI DOC into a national leader in the field of corrections. Read More. |
