IONIA COUNTY, Mich. — May 6 to 12 is designated as Michigan Correctional Officers Week. Four officers were chosen from the Ionia area representing their respective facility as being the 2012 Corrections Officer of the Year. Officers were nominated who best exemplify the qualities of an outstanding employee by demonstrating a positive work ethic, communicate effectively with staff and prisoners, present a positive role model for others, demonstrate sound judgment and mature behavior in emergency situations.
