A group of Jacksonville prison officers say they were sexually harassed at work by fellow officers. Now, they're seeking restitution of $300,000 each. Six current and former employees with the Department of Corrections have filed a federal lawsuit alleging a pattern of sexual harassment. They say their supervisors, both men and women, demanded sexual favors. "He'd ask me, 'How do you like the administrative shift? If you give me what I want, you can stay on the administrative shift,'" said Theresa Wilds of her supervisor. Others claimed supervisors implied sexual favors would mean more days off. Now, the plaintiffs want the DOC to institute a zero-tolerance policy. In response to the allegations, DOC officials said, "We are aware of this lawsuit. The Department of Corrections will defend itself in court." |
