RALEIGH — Michael Munns is the new administrator at the North Carolina Department of Public Safety’s Polk Correctional Institution in Butner. The Adult Correction Division facility has about 540 officers and other staff members, and houses approximately 1,010 close custody male inmates ages 19 to 25. Munns, who succeeds the retired Lawrence Solomon, began his career in 1983 at Central Prison as a correctional officer. Munns was most recently deputy warden at Central Prison. Prior to that he was an assistant superintendent at Polk Correctional. Munns is a graduate of the division’s Correctional Leadership Development Program. |
