SANTA FE, N.M. - Target 7 has learned that two corrections officers were involved in a fight at a big party hosted over the weekend in one of the state-owned home on the grounds of the New Mexico State Penitentiary.

It happened Saturday night.

Sources tell Target 7 that Lt. Joe Pacheco got into a fight with another corrections officer. Pacheco's girlfriend, who lives with him in one of the state-owned homes, also got involved. Now both are being forced to move out.

Prison officials wouldn't confirm who was involved, but did say there was a fight involving at least one resident.

"Not only asked, but we ordered that staff member to move off grounds," adult prisons director Jerry Roark said.

The fight raises fresh questions about just which corrections officials live in state-owned homes on penitentiary property. Last summer, Target 7 exposed that residents pay no rent, no utilities and no property taxes.
