NORMAN, Oklahoma - Family and friends will remember an Oklahoma probation officer killed in the line of duty on Wednesday. Jeffery Matthew McCoy, 32, of Norman, was killed on Friday, May 18, in Midwest City, while on the job. McCoy, a probation and parole officer with the Oklahoma Department of Corrections since 2005, was fatally shot during a routine visit to an offender in Midwest City. 5/18/2012 Related Story: Police Identify Man Killed In MWC As Probation Officer McCoy leaves behind a wife and two young children. A fund to help McCoy's family has been set up at Banc First, located at 1201 W. Main Street in Norman under the "The Jeffery McCoy Memorial/Children's Scholarship Fund." According to the Department of Corrections, several bogus sites claiming to be memorial funds are listed on the internet.
