A company that provides nurses to state prisons is suing the Fletcher administration and three other health care agencies after it lost a two-year state contract worth nearly $5 million. Medical Staffing Network Inc. claims in a 20-page lawsuit filed last week in Franklin Circuit Court that the state Finance and Administration Cabinet and Kentucky Department of Corrections incorrectly awarded the contract and asked that it be rebid. Jill Midkiff, a spokeswoman for Finance Secretary Robbie Rudolph, said the cabinet is reviewing the lawsuit and had no comment. Lisa Lamb, a spokeswoman for the corrections department, said it won't comment on pending litigation. MSN, based in Boca Raton, Fla., also is claiming that two other companies -- Maxim Healthcare Services Inc. and Kforce Inc. -- tried to steal its employees to gain a business advantage to win the contract. Maxim lists its headquarters as Columbia, Md.; Kforce is based in Tampa, Fla. Josh Gregg, a sales recruiter for Maxim, said his company had no comment. Calls to Kforce were not returned. Crown Services Inc., based in Columbus, Ohio, eventually replaced Kforce as winner of part of the contract and is also named in the suit. |
