Escapee goes through faulty door at Hinds County jail |

Mississippi -- The latest inmate to escape the Hinds County Detention Center in Raymond got out through a faulty door, officials said. James M. Hopkins, 34, was discovered missing about 10 p.m. Monday, according to a news release by the Mississippi Department of Corrections. Hopkins is a state inmate, serving a 20-year sentence for a conviction of grand larceny, escape, and possession with intent to manufacture from Rankin County. The MDOC release did not explain why the inmate was being held at the detention center. His escape comes as the county is making repairs on locks on cells and doors in the Raymond Detention Center.
