Inmate death draws lawsuit |

A lawsuit filed against members of the now-defunct Muskogee Community Work Center is asking for more than $75,000 because of an inmate’s death. The lawsuit states that Jerry D. West, 44, died as a result of a fall he suffered while under Oklahoma Department of Corrections care. The lawsuit lists Stormy Wilson, district supervisor of the Muskogee Community Work Center in 2009, and Steve Montgomery, an officer at the center, as the defendants. An attorney for Lagrita Chiles filed the suit and listed Chiles as “special administrator” to West’s estate. Jerry Massie, the department’s public information officer, was out of the office Monday and unavailable for comment. The work center closed in 2010 because of budget restrictions. Read More. |
