DOC recognizes fallen officers |

CANON CITY — It has been nearly 10 years since Puebloan Eric Autobee lost his life in the line of duty and his family helped honor him during a memorial Wednesday. Sgt. Autobee was the last of 14 Colorado Department of Corrections officers to lose his life while working to protect the public from the state's inmates. Autobee died in October 2002, when he was attacked by an inmate at the Limon prison kitchen. "I take it one day, one step, one minute at a time," said Lola Autobee, Eric's mother. "It has been hard." Lola, her husband Bob, son Scott, daughter-in-law Elizabeth and grandchildren Morghan, 7; Hunter, 4, and Benny, 2, made the trek to Canon City on Wednesday to remember Eric during the Fallen Officers Memorial at the Territorial prison park where a permanent monument has been erected.
