CT Correctional Emergency Response Team Muster
By Connecticut Department of Correction
Published: 06/15/2012

In honor of the 30th anniversary of the Connecticut Department of Correction, Correctional Emergency Response Team (CERT), the agency will be presenting a day long muster to demonstrate its considerable tactical capabilities.

There will be continuous demonstrations both inside and outside the facility, of the department’s tactical operations units including CERT, the Special Operations Group, Situational Control hostage negotiators and its K-9 teams that are always ready should they be called into one of the state’s correctional facilities.

The first CERT team was formed after a riot at the Somers State Prison in 1982. Commissioner Leo C. Arnone was a member of that first team and would eventually become its commander. He will be present at the muster along with Lieutenant Governor Nancy Wyman who is expected at 9 a.m.

The day will be capped at 1:30 p.m. with a large scale demonstration on the playing field immediately adjacent to the Webster CI facility.

The event is free and open to the public. Food will be available with proceeds benefiting Special Olympics.
