Saluda, SC (WLTX) -- After Saluda County Sheriff Jason Booth was indicted Thursday morning, the departments Deputy Sheriff speaks to News19 about what's next. Saluda County Sheriff Jason Booth has been indicted on one charge of misconduct in office. Prosecutors say he used an inmate to work on his private property. Outside the Saluda County Sheriff's Department sits an empty vehicle. A truck, Saluda Sheriff Jason Booth used to drive, before resigning early Thursday morning. "I was sad. The Sheriff is a good man. He just made a bad decision," said Deputy Sheriff W.R. Freeman. Freeman, a friend of Booth's, served along side the Sheriff for thirteen years. Freeman says the indictment does not come as a surprise. "I knew there was an investigation going on since last October. Several deputies had been interviewed." Read More. |
