Williston – Vermont Department of Corrections has announced they now have the ability for members of the public to self-register to the Department’s emergency notification system.

The Vermont Department of Corrections, working with TFCC, developed a website interface where members of the public can register themselves by going to a simple website where community members can enter as many different forms of contact information and select the location they would like to be notified by. In addition, this website will allow users to update their information as telephone numbers or contact information changes. Users can discontinue participation at any time.

Vermont Department of Corrections purchased TFCC Alert from Columbus, Ohio based Twenty First Century Communications. With TFCC Alert Vermont Department of Corrections will be able to send time-sensitive, targeted messages to select groups and geographic areas.

The system is capable of reaching landlines, cellular and VoIP phones, BlackBerrys/PDAs, pagers and TTY/TTD devices for the hearing impaired. It also sends messages via SMS/text messaging, fax and email and can post messages to Facebook and Twitter.
