Whistle blown on Serco but Corrective Services denies all |

WA's prisoner transport system is again in the spotlight, with a whistleblower claiming prisoners are escaping and being left seriously ill as a result of lax security and due care by transport contractor Serco. The whistleblower, a Department of Corrections prison officer known only as Tom, told 6PR this morning problems with Serco were rife and putting community safety, prison officer safety and prisoner welfare at risk. He said there had been several incidents of prisoners escaping from custody while in the care of Serco and one man was left fighting for his life after being returned from hospital to jail in a prison van, not an ambulance.
