| Prison officers accused of running drug trafficking ring with criminals |

Victoria, Australia -- PRISON officers accused of running a drug trafficking ring with criminals have been arrested in a series of co-ordinated raids. Operation Puli, run by Victoria Police drug taskforce detectives, started in November last year after intelligence was passed on by Corrections Victoria. Those arrested were a 40-year-old Grovedale man, a 31-year-old Norlane woman, a 41-year-old Norlane man and a 46-year-old Norlane man. They last night remained in custody. Victoria Police officers swooped on several properties in the Geelong region connected to Barwon Prison and at Delahey, in Melbourne’s northern suburbs, this morning. Cannabis and prescription medication were seized. Victoria Police acting Deputy Commissioner Jeff Pope said “one or two” of the guards had formed a relationship with inmates. Mr Pope said the behaviour was isolated to Barwon Prison, the state’s highest security prison. Read More. |
