| State officials give update on new prison construction |

Skippack, PA - Township officials received an update on the progress of the construction of the new state prison during a recent public meeting. Liz O’Reilly, a member of the Pennsylvania Department of General Services’ executive team, appeared before the township’s board of supervisors, according to Township Manager Ted Locker. O’Reilly, the agency’s deputy press secretary for public works, reported that the heavy landscaping and fencing would make the new prison barely visible from Skippack Pike, Locker said. Pennsylvania has agreed to pay Walsh Construction and Heery International $315.8 million to design and build a prison capable of housing 4,100 offenders on the grounds of Graterford State Prison.
