| Inmate gets additional time for causing death at Cape Vincent Correctional Facility |

NY -- A state prison inmate was sentenced Tuesday in Jefferson County Court to an additional two to four years in prison for causing the death of another inmate at Cape Vincent Correctional Facility. Erick S. Minott, 20, now an inmate at Upstate Correctional Facility, Malone, was sentenced for April 26 guilty pleas to criminally negligent homicide and second-degree attempted assault. Minott admitted that he was fighting July 22, 2011, with Jorge Morillo and that, while he was trying to injure Mr. Morillo, he had no intention of killing him. Mr. Morillo, 31, Bronx, fell during the altercation and struck his head against a hard surface, causing a blood clot on his brain that resulted in his death. Read More. |
