| Former jailer sentenced for sex act with inmate |

A former Scott County, Ill. jailer has been sentenced to a year of probation and a $500 fine for engaging in a sex act with a teenage female inmate. Robert Rangel, of East Moline, Illinois, pleaded guilty last month to one count of sexual misconduct with an offender. Court records say charges stem from an incident at the jail in Davenport between May of 2002, and last March. Rangel faced a maximum sentence of two years in prison. |
