Clare County, MI -- We currently have 165 inmates lodged in the Clare County Jail which consist of 70 locals, 86 state renters, eightfederal, and one Department of Corrections. During the month of July deputies handled 2,392 incidents throughout Clare County. We investigated 19 home invasions/ breaking and entering complaints during the month;seven were in Surrey, three in Hayes, two in Lincoln, and one each in Farwell, Franklin, Redding, Garfield, Hatton, Freeman, and Grant. If you haven’t seen by now, the Clare County Sheriff Department has its own smart phone application out there for anyone to download for free. Just go to your smart phone store and do a search on “Clare”“Sheriff.” We will use this application to keep the public up to date on what is going on in Clare County, along with our top most wanted people that have warrants for them. You can send tips in anonymously, report abandoned vehicles, check out the calendar of events in the county, and many other things. There is a “Crime Map” section that shows push pins where property crimes have occurred and are being investigated throughout the county. One of the most important features is that we are able to send push notifications that will alert the citizens of the county of emergencies, missing endangered people, abductions, and any other reasons we feel important to make the public immediately aware of.
