Juvenile justice finds itself in the midst of successful public and private reforms, which have changed the landscape and prompted large-scale improvements of philosophies, programs, and services for children and youth. Not yet as fully the beneficiary of these reforms is the conditions of confinement for youth in custody. Can the field articulate a strategy to create and sustain improved conditions of custody that are consistently safe, secure, humane, and therapeutic environments for youth? The National Center for Youth in Custody (NC4YC) is pleased to launch a series of webinars exploring and resulting in a strategy that builds on the gains from litigation and case law but also addresses broader and perhaps more comprehensive and sustainable ways to improve conditions of confinement.
