With sentencing law change, courts work with what they're dealt |

Ohio--COSHOCTON -- House Bill 86 tweaked Ohio's sentencing laws. The changes created some new sentencing guidelines, keeping some offenders out of prisons if their chance of repeating a crime is low. Creative sentencing, or alternatives to jail or prison, were under way locally long before Ohio's laws were revised in 2011, said Chris McCabe, chief probation officer for Coshocton Municipal Court.
