SACRAMENTO — A Riverside police officer who shot and killed a man who had slain two people and was running toward nearby homes received the medal of valor Thursday from Gov. Jerry Brown. Twenty-one public safety officers had been nominated for the honor, the highest award for valor in the state. Riverside Officer Zachariah Fishell, a San Francisco firefighter and an El Cajon police officer were the only ones who received the awards for actions in 2011. Read More. |
