Prison officers from Kern County honored for bravery |

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) — The California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation held its annual Medal of Valor awards ceremony Thursday near Sacramento. Seventy-three correctional and parole officers and other staff members were honored for actions above and beyond the call of duty, the CDCR said. Four prison officers from Kern County were among those recognized for bravery. Wasco State Prison Correctional Officer Armando Vera was honored for saving a driver who crashed into a canal.
