Women in Recovery Graduates Seventh Class |

Ten women today graduated from a program that provides an alternative to incarceration for nonviolent female offenders in Tulsa County who have alcohol and drug addictions. Women in Recovery (WIR) is funded by George Kaiser Family Foundation and operated by Family & Children’s Services in Tulsa. Oklahoma district judges, attorneys, public defenders, business leaders, community partners and supporters were on hand Thursday, Sept. 6 at the Tulsa County Court House for the graduation ceremony. This is the program’s seventh group of graduates, raising the total number of women who have completed the program to 80. “Women in Recovery is a program that turns lives around and gets them out of the criminal justice system,” says the Honorable William Kellough, presiding Tulsa County District judge. “Those graduating today are rebuilding their lives and the lives of their children and families.” Read More. |
