Several states use private companies to operate some corrections facilities, in attempts to save taxpayers' money. In most cases, companies with contracts for such work operate jails and prisons efficiently. That apparently is not the case with a state prison in Ashtabula County, Ohio. There, the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction found the company hired to run the prison is in compliance with only two-thirds of the state's operating rules for such corrections facilities.
