Recidivism costing W.Va. tens of millions dollars |

CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) — Offenders who offend anew are costing West Virginia tens of millions of dollars in prison costs annually. Researchers at the Council of State Governments Justice Center put the cost at $168 million over the past five years, at a minimum. The Charleston Gazette said researchers found that from 2007 to 2011, there were 2,506 parole revocations, 2,389 probation revocations and 591 community corrections revocations. Read More. |
