| Escape attempt from Tucson prison thwarted |

TUCSON, Ariz. (AP) — The Arizona Department of Corrections says the Cimarron unit of the state prison complex in Tucson is on lockdown following a convicted murderer's unsuccessful escape attempt. The department says inmate Jimmy Odom assaulted a contract employee and stole a delivery truck Wednesday. The department says Odom then drove the truck through an interior fence but was stopped at the perimeter fence and restrained by an officer. Odom is serving a life sentence imposed on convictions in Coconino County for first-degree murder, kidnapping, armed robbery and burglary. Read More. |
