The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office is trying to fill 17 corrections officer positions at the county jail, a number that dropped from 40 openings last month. In an effort to recruit for those positions, the Montgomery County Commission last month gave the sheriff’s office $20,000 to spend on television advertising positions, Sheriff D.T. Marshall said. Marshall said the process of hiring officers is long and complicated. Those who apply have to take a written test, which can only be administered when a certain number of people sign up to take it.
