Another officer has been accused of having sexual contact with an inmate of the Allegheny County (Pa.) Jail. Robert Lewis, a part-time officer, was arrested last Monday at the jail, shortly after arriving to work the afternoon shift, said Mike Manko, a spokesman for District Attorney Stephen Zappala. Lewis, 29, of Verona, faces one count of institutional sexual assault, according to a police criminal complaint. He was released on $10,000 bond. The complaint alleges that Lewis had sexual contact with a woman inmate at the jail in July. The arrest is the latest in a scandal that has resulted in charges against more than a half dozen officers over the past year. |
