| KCC to host Corrections career fairs Nov. 14 |

In anticipation of the State of Michigan hiring hundreds of additional corrections officers over the next year, Kellogg Community College is hosting a pair of career fairs next month to help people learn more about working in the corrections field. The career fairs are 3-5 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 14, at locations in Battle Creek and Coldwater. The locations are: Classroom 303, Lane-Thomas Building, on the KCC campus at 450 North Ave., Battle Creek. Student Lounge, KCCs Grahl Center, 125 Seeley St., Coldwater. Representatives from the Michigan Department of Corrections will be available at the career fairs, as will representatives from KCCs Student Employment Services and Financial Aid offices. Nationally, corrections officers earn a median $39,020 annually and the occupation is expected to grow 5 percent from 2010 to 2020, according to the federal Bureau of Labor Statistics. Read More. |
